:Apogee Render

Overview

Quality Output at High Resolution

:Apogee Render is a single platform ripping solution designed for simplified output on plate or film. Ease of use is key: Define the output engine you want to drive, select the right parameters and you're ready to go! :Apogee Render is the most basic :Apogee solution for quality output at high resolution.

Integrated Calibration

To guarantee the final output quality, :Apogee Render comes with a user-friendly tool to create curves to linearize the output on film or plate. You can use the same tool to compensate for dot gain and other deviations on the printing press. Based on the process settings like resolution, screen ruling and paper type, automatically the right linearization and calibration curves are applied while rendering the files.

Output Integrity

The standard :Apogee Render solution includes a Normalizer to make sure that input documents, Postscript or PDF, can be processed correctly. The Normalizer not only converts Postscript to PDF, but will apply the right color management settings and recombine pre-separated input files to composite PDF's.

Advanced Color Separation Control

Input documents get separated into the four process colors. Or setup a printing queue (Hot Ticket) that informs you if the job contains spot colors, providing you control on the separations that will be output. You define the way you want to separate either in a production plan or from within your front-end layout application or Adobe Acrobat using the appropriate plug-in.

Complete Control

:Apogee's unique user interface lets you control the power of :Apogee Render. You can let jobs process without interruption or intervene at any time. Drag-and-drop tools let you interact in real-time, stop or start output, change output priority, view digital film before imaging to plate or remake a plate if required.

An upgrade path to leverage your investment

As your production requirements change, Agfa Graphics can offer a simple upgrade path to :Apogee Control, extending the functionality with a set of tools that allow you to monitor and define the rendering process. If also preflighting, imposition, or more automation features are required, then you can also upgrade to :Apogee Manage or :Apogee Automate.

Features

Hot folder, AppleTalk, Named Pipe, TCP/IP, LPR input channels:

Enables file input from any Mac, PC, or even Unix based applications.

Hot Tickets:

Contain pre-defined Production Plans for fully automatic (hands-off) output of print jobs. They graphically describe all required processing steps and define the settings for a job to obtain the wanted output on CtF or CtP imaging devices.

Job Tracking & Controlling:

Easy-to-use tools lets you monitor the progress of a print job and interact with it to either delete, change its priority, or perform remakes.

MSDE database:

Logs all job related processing information and keeps track of all resources such as production files, fonts, ICC profiles, and halftone screens. Logging information can be easily shared with any ODBC compliant applications for cost calculation purposes.

Adobe PDF Print Engine:

Renders PDF files natively to digital films, using the latest available technology. The Adobe PDF Print Engine eliminates the need to flatten transparent artwork upfront providing consistency of output. Combined with Agfa Graphics' colour management and screening technology, the APPE enables a more efficient and reliable end-to-end PDF workflow.

In-Render Trapping (IRT) (enhancer):

Provides automated hands-off trapping of pages or signatures. Influence trap-zones using the TrapSpotting plugin for Adobe Acrobat.

Screening:

Agfa's Balanced Screening and :Sublima 200 are standard. :CristalRaster FM Screening and :Sublima XM Screening at line rulings above 200 lpi.

Soft Proofing:

The default contone previewer enables viewing of Digital Film to check for correct separation, overprint, knockout, and trapping. The optional Raster Preview allows you to see the real dots the way they will image on film or plate.

Hardcopy Proofing (enhancer):

Using the same Adobe based renderer that generates the digital film, quality proofs are generated from pages and signatures, providing 100% data integrity. Quality of the proofs can be enhanced even more if output is wanted to one of the many :Sherpa proofing devices, and its quality is managed using :Qms.

Five :Apogee Client Licenses:

A native graphical application for Macintosh and PC, enables five operators to logon to :Apogee Render simultaneously to manage output devices and proofers, or manage the entire :Apogee Render. Options are available to extend the number of clients.
